Old names

The tool names the server used before October 15, 2026, and the tool that answers each one now.

On October 15, 2026 the server's tool list went from 49 tools to 23. Several tools became one, and a few left the list; it holds 24 tools today. A saved prompt, a routine or a client that still calls an old name keeps working.

What an old name does now

  • It still answers. A renamed tool runs the tool that replaced it, with your inputs mapped, and gives the same facts. A removed tool runs as it did.
  • The answer says what to call instead. It carries a notice field: renamed_to and use_inputs for a renamed tool, or removed and instead for a removed one. An answer that is not an object carries the notice as a second text block.
  • The tool list shows it for one week. For a week after the change, tools/list shows each old name with a one-line description that names its replacement. After that week the old names leave the list and keep answering.
  • Each new tool's description names the tools it replaces, so an assistant that reads a saved prompt with an old name still finds the new tool.

An old name stops answering only after the Claude and ChatGPT directory listings are approved on the new tool list, and after it has had no calls from outside Ticker for 30 days. Until then, nothing you saved breaks.
